The new guy
So, what did we do today Stephan?
Today we build and painted a new guy for your army Toby
Who was it, was it ...
I sure as hell hope it was the other four howdah dudes that you've been putting off painting the last millenia, christ I still had SKIN when you painted me!
Unfourtunately no.
Guys, I'd like you all to meet the new hero, he can either be Nekaph or just a random Tomb Herald.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!
. . . why ...
. . .
Why are you wearing a flag on your head?
He's not going to fit up here with that giant head, and where's his spear? He could bash someones skull in with that thing he's wearing, we have a nice work environment here without some fancy flagboy coming with a giant morningstar and ruining it for everyone!
Khatep- So, new dude, what can you do?
Nekaph - doooooooooooooooooom
Toby - Yeah, you mentioned that ... maybe you could be a little more specific?
Nekaph - well ... I kill things
Toby - AWESOME!!!
Nekaph - Thanks, thought you'd like it.
Khatep - Really Toby, that's all it takes to impress you?
Toby - KILLING STUFF ROCKS!

A dusty affair
Arrrrr, me name's ol' one eye and I am here to tell ye a tale of wonder, sacrifice and grand victories ... It all started when the accursed vampires from the far north decided to invade our sacret soil. Foul beasts where they, aye foul automatons that ...
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT, WUHWUHWUH!!!
. . .
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT, WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!!
Excuse me ... I was in the middle of a tale of bloodshed and noble sacrifice so if you don't mind I wouldn't mind getting on with it now please!
Hey down there, did we win or not?!
I was just getting to that ... jeez.
Anyway, the enemy invaded our blessed lands and an impressive enemy t'was ...
They deployed, not far from us, and we needed to adjust our plan a little because of the terrain. The ground was covered by weird, green, wet stuff and arcane structures had been raised here in the odd borderlands.
Remeber that our main plan was patience, for the enemy did not have any weapons that could match our skull catapults or our deadly arrows, so we wanted to hold them back so we could shoot and shoot and shoot, volley after devastating volley of guided arrows.
Here we have the hordes of the cursed vampire. He brought wagons of war, soldiers deader than Elvis and even a giant mutated Varghulf.
However he did make a fatal mistake when he deployed his ghouls on the far left flank since it weakened his middle.
He had only 30 skeletons and his mighty grave guards to rush forward, the ghouls where to far away to properly support them. The black coach was standing behind a unit of ethereal wraiths, ready to suck out all the magic.
This is our glorious host. We followed the plan, but chose to place our Skull catapults and the Casket of Souls on a nearby hill.
They where not protected by anything, but the enemy had long to march before they would make it so far into our lines.
We hoped that the onslaught of our two sphinxes would stop the enemy dead in it's tracks.
Our mighty king and his chariots where deployed on the hill. This way they could cover a lot of the battlefield without being exposed themselves.
Notice that Bones had already started dancing now.
We fired volley after volley into the evil undead, but they did not flinch. Our mighty hierophant did his best to shield our army from harm and the other liches attempted to destroy the foul wraiths, but to no avail. However our skull catapults destroyed the black coach with a blaze of righteous flame ...
The king, impetious as ever charged forward and the mighty sphinxes followed him. He hit the ranked skeletons and pulverised them, moving forward onto the grave guard who where already engaged by a sphinx.
The cursed wraiths engaged our other sphinx, but their feeble blades did not harm it.
Soon after there was neither skeletons or wights left, and the king was engaged in deadly melee with the foul vampire lord and his trusted lieutenant.
The mutated varghulf joined the melee and destroyed many chariots, our beloved king was eaten by the beast but not before fataly wounding the vampire.
This was when our sphinx charged into the dreaded lieutenant and it's howdah crew felled him with a single killing blow. The sphinx seemed unstoppable and trampled the wounded vampire to death.
And thus, even though our king had been slain, the vampires was forced to retreat.
The day was dawning and the vampire horde had scattered. We where victorious.
Now bones ...
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT WHU WHU WHU WHU WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!!
The Plan
So whats the plan boss?
The plan is that you all sacrifice yourself for the greater good of our lord and master!
Oh- and keep me alive in the process ...
You're not our boss ... you're the Hierophant, of course we'll keep you alive, if you die, we crumble ...
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ooookay ... so boss, what's the plan?
To smite our enemies with our righteous might!
...
Oh yeah, and keep Khatep alive, or we all crumble ...
YAY!
HEY! Shaddap down there, where the devil is the other two Howdah dudes?!
And who spilt paint on the side of our Sphinx?!
Stephan's too lazy to paint the other guys, so he divided you in two and two to man both sphinxes, and I spilled the paint ... sorry about that.
Hurray!
And the Tombkings Rode to War
Today I am facing Vampire Counts. On paper it looks like a good matchup for me, on the other hand with my terrible skill at rolling dice these days, everything can happen.

Hierotitan
- - - > 175 Points
Total Points Tomb Kings : 2400
This list i a tweaked version of a list that I played monday against Jacobs Orc's.
Even though I lost the game, not due to bad luck (I didn't have any of that then and he had plenty) but because of my Sphinxes falling apart and my Tomb King biting over a bigger chunk of Orcs than he could swallow. But I really liked the feel of the list.
I didn't have 2 x 20 archers during that game, and I really feel like the other batch could have made a huge difference. There where several instances where I really needed the extra 20/40 shots. Especially against his trolls.
However, my Hierotitan and my warmachines "survived" the entire game (can you survive when you aren't technically alive?) as did Khatep and the other 2 Liches.
The general idea with the list is to keep the army moving in a formation like this:
Basically my king and his two sphinxes will just march (well, walk) onwards with the rest of the army like this behind them.
The great thing about this setup is that the Hierotitan is within 12" of all my casters, who are placed with a light wizard in each archer unit and the Hierophant in the middle with the warriors. Also I can easily move my wizards around if need be.
The skull catapults will obviously stay behind, but hopefully the massive archer fire will take out all of the opponents warmachine hunters ... what am I talking about, he plays vampire counts, he doesn't have any warmachine hunters.
The casket of souls might as well walk with the rest of the army, depends on what he fields and how far back he holds it. Otherwise it gives great protection from wolves and the likes with low leadership and few wounds.
Notice the very small unit of chariots? Well, I figured that it would be a good place to place my king, even though he doesn't get any look out sir from the small unit, but considering that VC can't shoot at all I'm not to worried, he is most likely going to die (again), but it's okay, as long as he does some damage with his 5 str 5 attacks.
I didn't spam light, but I feel like I brought enough of it to be able to put some real hurt on his smaller units, like wraiths, Varghulf and even bats if he bring them. I will have 3 x 2D6 str 4(6) hits with Shem's each turn, that he can try to stop. Other than that the entire lore of Nehekhara gives me a lot of possibilities and a lot of healing if I want it. Khatep's ability to reroll a casting attempt once per turn is awesome, it's very rare indeed that he miscasts and normally he gets his spells through with only 2 or 3 dice (plus D3 from hierotitan).
All in all I feel really good about this list, I think it will perform very well against the hated vampires.
Obviously I will update tomorrow when the fog of battle is lifted and only one victor stands tall
